Regional Queensland Investigations: Helping Businesses Respond with Confidence

June 29, 2026 by Chamber Liaison

When workplace issues arise, how they are handled can have lasting consequences for everyone involved. Through Regional Queensland Investigations, Director and Principal Investigator Jason King is helping organisations across regional Queensland navigate complex workplace matters professionally, fairly and with confidence.

Jason King

Regional Queensland Investigations provides specialist services in workplace misconduct investigations, fraud, bullying and harassment complaints, cyber security, corporate risk and sensitive organisational inquiries. The firm works with businesses, government agencies, insurers, legal practitioners and other organisations, assisting them to manage difficult situations lawfully, discreetly and with procedural fairness.

Jason brings decades of investigative experience to the role. A former Australian Federal Police Federal Agent and former Victoria Police member, he also holds postgraduate qualifications in Law, Intellectual Property Law and Computer Science.

Beyond his investigative work, Jason serves as Queensland Chapter President of the Australian Institute of Professional Investigators and is a sessional lecturer within the College of Law and Justice at Central Queensland University, where he teaches Legal Automation and Intellectual Property Law.

For Jason, one of the biggest challenges facing regional businesses is managing workplace complaints in close-knit communities.

“Regional businesses often operate in environments where staff, managers, customers and community members know each other. That can make workplace complaints particularly sensitive,” he said.

“Having clear processes gives business owners confidence to respond early, fairly and consistently while protecting everyone involved – the complainant, the respondent, witnesses, managers and the business itself.”

Jason says businesses should never ignore early warning signs such as repeated informal complaints, staff disengagement, increased absenteeism, allegations of bullying or misconduct that go undocumented, or workplace rumours that escalate without management understanding the facts.

“Small issues can quickly become major organisational problems when they’re ignored, minimised or handled inconsistently,” he said.

The consequences of mishandling workplace investigations can be significant, ranging from legal claims and reputational damage to operational disruption, staff turnover and psychological injury.

“The biggest mistake is often not the original complaint itself – it’s the way the organisation responds to it,” Jason explained. “Equally important is ensuring procedural fairness for everyone involved. People should never be judged before the facts have been properly examined.”

Through Regional Queensland Investigations, Jason is passionate about helping organisations take a proactive approach, equipping leaders with practical processes that reduce risk and improve decision-making before issues escalate into crises.

Whether supporting a complex workplace investigation or providing advice on managing organisational risk, Regional Queensland Investigations is committed to helping regional businesses protect their people, their reputation and their future through fair, professional and evidence-based investigations.
