Look & Learn: Free Social Media Help for Proserpine Businesses and Market Stallholders

August 28, 2026 by Chamber Liaison

Bring your phone, bring your questions, and get real answers about your own social media. The Chamber’s first Look & Learn session is at the Proserpine Entertainment Centre on Wednesday 9 September, 9am to 11am.

You have sat through the webinar. You have read the listicle. Post consistently. Use reels. Show your face. All perfectly sensible, and none of it explains why no one can tag your business page or why your posts don’t look the way you want them to.

The gap between general advice and helping you to make worthwhile changes is what the Chamber’s new Look & Learn sessions are built to close.

What Look & Learn actually is

Look & Learn is a casual drop-in session. It is not a seminar, there is no slide deck, and nobody is going to stand at the front and talk at you for ninety minutes.

You turn up any time between 9am and 11am, sit down with someone from the Chamber team, open your own social media on your own phone, and work through whatever is bothering you. Fifteen minutes and you’ll have more of an idea than a 90min talk.

The first session is social media themed, and the details are simple:

When: Wednesday 9 September, 9am to 11am
Where: Proserpine Entertainment Centre (PEC)
Cost: Free
Format: Drop in any time, stay as long as you like
Bring: Your phone or laptop, and your logins if you can remember them

An RSVP is not compulsory, but it helps us know how many people to have on hand. If you can let us know you are coming, we would appreciate it.

What you can bring to the table

Anything, honestly. But if you want a starting point, these are the sorts of things people usually want sorted but don’t know how:

  • “Why is nobody tagging my business page?”
  • “Should I be on Instagram, or is Facebook enough for my customers?”
  • “I have been posting from my personal profile — how do I set up a proper business page?”
  • “What do I post when nothing is happening this week?”
  • “Can I schedule posts in advance so I am not doing it at 10pm?”

The point of the drop-in format is that you get to ask the specific version of the question, not the general one. “How do small businesses use Instagram” is a webinar topic. “Here is my page, what am I doing wrong” is a conversation, and it is far more useful.

How to get the most out of your session

A little preparation makes a big difference to what you walk out with.

Bring the device you’re posting from. Most of the fixes are things you will do on your phone, and it is much easier to show you than to describe it.

Sort out your logins beforehand if you can. That will help you get the most out of the session, rather than trying to log in.

Bring one clear question. Even if you have twenty, having one you really want answered means you leave with something concrete.

Have a look at a competitor or two. If there is a business whose social media you admire, screenshot it. Working out what they are doing well is a quick way to work out what you could change.

The first of a series

This is the first Look & Learn, and the plan is for it to be the first of many.

Social media is the starting theme because it is the topic that comes up most often, but future sessions will follow the same drop-in format across other themes — the practical business skills that are hard to learn from a webinar and easy to learn from someone sitting beside you.

What those themes are will depend partly on what attendees at all our events are asking for. If you turn up with a question that is not about social media at all, tell us anyway. It might well shape the next one.

Come along on 9 September

Free, drop in any time

RSVPs are not required but are appreciated — let us know you are coming.

You do not need to be a Chamber member to come along, and there is no catch.

Turn up, ask your question, get an answer, get back to work.
