Led by the Whitsundays Chamber of Commerce & Industry, with support from Tourism Whitsundays, Bowen Tourism & Business and Bowen Chamber of Commerce, the campaign encourages shoppers to support local businesses.

Gift Local gives your business another way to reach customers during the busy Christmas shopping period.

- Stay visible beyond Christmas. Our goal is to grow Gift Local into an ongoing guide promoted around Christmas and Boxing Day sales, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
How it works
The 2026 campaign combines print, online and social media promotion:
- Dedicated pull out gift guide in the Friday 27 November edition of Whitsunday Life,
- Regional marketing campaign including announcements and social media, and
- Searchable online directory.
Shoppers will be able to browse businesses by category and explore gift options to suit different recipients and budgets.
Your listing promotes your business, not just one product. You can describe what you offer, include your price range, share gift ideas, and direct shoppers to your website or social media.
Simply register your business by Wednesday 18 November then a member of the Whitsundays Chamber team will be in touch to confirm details and arrange payment (if applicable).

The Gift Local | The Whitsundays website is taking shape, giving the community an early look at a new online destination for local Christmas shopping.
At whitsundaysgiftguide.com.au, shoppers can browse gift ideas by recipient, budget and town, with categories spanning local makers, retailers, food and drink, experiences, tours and vouchers.
The guide is being built behind the scenes, with more local businesses, listings and gift ideas to be added as registrations come in.
The community is invited to take a look, explore what’s on offer, and check back as the guide grows in the lead-up to Christmas.
What can your business offer?
All businesses across the region are welcome to participate. You don’t need to be a member of any supporting organisation.
We’re looking for a broad mix of local businesses, including:
- Retail and gifts: Fashion, jewellery, homewares, books, toys and specialty stores.
- Food and drink: Cafés, restaurants, food producers, hampers and local treats.
- Practical and professional services: Tradies, mechanics, automotive retailers, cleaners, painters, plumbers, lawyers, accountants and other businesses offering services that can be gifted, prepaid or purchased as vouchers.
- Art and handmade goods: Local art, crafts and one-of-a-kind creations.
- Experiences and getaways: Tours, attractions, accommodation and local adventures.
- Health, beauty and wellbeing: Beauty treatments, wellness services, lessons and workshops.
- Gift cards and memberships: Vouchers, subscriptions, memberships and prepaid services.
If people can buy it, book it, enjoy it or give it to someone else, we want them to be able to find your business.

From 1 July 2027 to 30 June 2028, Gift Local will become an ongoing promotional guide, with opportunities to feature your business around Mother’s and Father’s Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Christmas and Boxing Day sales.
