Whitsundays businesses are being encouraged to get involved in a new regional campaign designed to help locals and visitors shop local this Christmas.
Gift Local | The Whitsundays will showcase the region’s diverse range of gifts, products, experiences and services, making it easier for shoppers to find great gift ideas while supporting local businesses.
Led by the Whitsundays Chamber of Commerce & Industry with the support of regional business groups, the campaign will combine print, digital and social media promotion.
A dedicated gift guide will appear in the Friday 27 November edition of Whitsunday Life, supported by a searchable online directory where shoppers can browse businesses by category and budget.
Chamber Executive Officer Dr Julia Evans said the campaign was an opportunity for businesses across the region to reach customers during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year.
“Gift Local is about locals supporting locals and keeping more of our Christmas spending in the Whitsundays.
From a special gift or local experience to a service voucher or something practical, our businesses and local markers have plenty to offer. We want to help people see what’s available right here at home before they shop elsewhere.”
All businesses across the Whitsunday region are welcome to participate.
Listing options range from a free basic listing to paid featured listings and campaign partnerships.
The campaign will also lay the groundwork for a longer-term promotional guide, with seasonal campaigns planned around Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Christmas and Boxing Day sales.
Businesses are encouraged to register by 5pm Wednesday 18 November 2026.
