Porters opened its store in Cannonvale in 2002, at its current location, after a long history of servicing the Whitsunday region from its Mackay locations. In 2017, the Porters hardware businesses in Mackay and Whitsundays joined the Mitre 10 buying group, rebranding as Porters Mitre 10. Even after celebrating 140 years of business in 2023, Porters remains family-owned.
