Whitsunday Regional Council together with the Queensland Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning invites local businesses to attend ‘Doing Business with Council’ — an exclusive one-day event designed to help your business thrive.

Join us in Proserpine for a valuable opportunity to connect with representatives from State and Local Government, regional business support groups, and fellow small business owners.

These sessions will provide insights into upcoming business opportunities, Council’s procurement processes, a Meet the Buyer session and a Capability Statement Workshop—helping you strengthen your business and improve your chances of securing work.

Capability Statement Workshop

A capability statement is a tool that allows procurement teams to assess your expertise and achievements, as well as your potential to deliver goods and services. It outlines the capabilities and skills of your business and is essential for applying for and securing tendering opportunities in government and private sector projects.

Help your business stand out from the crowd and improve your chance of securing contracts. These interactive workshops help businesses develop and prepare effective capability statements.

Our workshop will help you learn:

  • Why a capability statement is important
  • How to use your capability statement to market your product or service; and accompany contract tender submissions
  • Best-practice fundamentals for developing and drafting a powerful capability statement
  • How to access the latest information on Queensland’s supply chain opportunities

Meet the Buyer

Meet with Whitsunday Regional Council’s procurement team!

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to showcase your business capabilities and explore specific opportunities in a one-on-one ‘speed dating’ format. These 10-minute appointments allow you to connect directly with key representatives, gaining valuable insights and guidance to help your business grow.

Use your appointment to:

  • Promote your existing and growing capability
  • Clarify procurement processes
  • Discuss upcoming work opportunities.
  • Provide a copy of your capability statement

Working with Council Workshop – Local Buy Session

Learn where to find tender opportunities and how to submit responses:

  • Understand what makes a conforming tender
  • Gain insights into how tenders are evaluated
  • Explore the different types of evaluation criteria

Collaboration Space

A dedicated collaboration space will be available, providing businesses with the opportunity to engage with representatives from government and non-government organisations. Learn about the resources and support available to help your business pursue future project opportunities and drive success.

Take advantage of this chance to access valuable insights, explore funding and support options, and build connections that can help your business prosper.
