Casual Employment

This Bites & Insights webinar will focus on casual employment and will be held online via Zoom 12pm-12:45pm Wednesday 25 September.

With recent “Closing Loopholes (No.2 Act 2024)” amendment to the Fair Work Act coming into effect on 26th August 2024 will mean there will be more to navigate for all businesses with regards to how they manage the employment relationship. This webinar will focus in particular on the new definition of casual employment and what the changes mean.

The following key points will be covered:

  • Change of casual definition; practical versus contractual considerations
  • Casual conversion, change of onus with stricter obligations
  • Changes of ordinary meaning to “employer” and “employee”

This webinar will be hosted by Chamber member Mark Lipkin from The Airlie Group who provide specialist industrial relations and human resources to local industry. Having worked across many different industries both in Australia and abroad in all matters human resources, industrial relations, and consulting, Mark’s two decades of experience translates into value for his clients. Holding undergraduate (University of Melbourne) and post graduate degrees (Monash and Swinburne universities) in psychology, human resources and commerce, Mark has been fortunate enough to work within major multinationals in a range of senior positions to running a number of successful consulting practices.
