Advocacy

A united voice for the Whitsundays business community

The Chamber is active in representing and advocating the interests of the Whitsundays business community.

As we are independent and apolitical organisation, the primary aim of our advocacy is to influence decisions across all levels of government on issues of shared concern.

As the united voice for the Whitsundays business community, we regularly engage our members to help shape our position on critical issues and inform our advocacy strategy. Get involved today and have your say!

Our Ten Point Plan

To guide our advocacy efforts, our Ten Point Plan to aims to reflect and clearly articulate the major issues of shared aspiration and concern for the Whitsunday business community. Our Ten Point Plan provides Chamber with a consistent, comprehensive and inclusive approach to advocacy.

Our Ten Point Plan to improve business conditions and regional economic growth includes the following:

  1. Red tape and regulatory simplification to get into business, and back to business, quickly and easily.
  2. Regional infrastructure for world-class transport, housing, health, safety, education, cultural and public amenities.
  3. Workforce development pathways and practices to attract and retain a stable highly skilled workforce.
  4. Attract investment and access to finance that is diverse, fair, and available to all regional businesses.
  5. Support for national scalability and exporting that opens a world of possibilities for regional businesses.
  6. Business interruption support that builds resilience in times of natural disasters and cyber disruption.
  7. Digital connectivity for increased reliability of the safe exchange of digital information and data and online presence.
  8. Sustainable practices to drive the circular economy, renewable energy and waste reduction.
  9. Service excellence that provides a customer experience that is the envy of the nation.
  10. Business community engagement to foster collaboration, incubation, and mentoring the next generation.
